Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears

A Musical Production by HACIL Enrichment Classes

Grades PreK – 6

Tuesday, April 28 6:30 pm (Tuesday Enrichment Classes)

Thursday, April 30 6:30 p.m. (Thursday Enrichment Classes)

Here’s an update on your children’s progress as they prepare for our musical production of the story “Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears.”  Keep reading for ways in which your help is needed.

  • LISTEN TO THE CD Encourage your child to listen to the CD and sing along!By Thursday, March 12, all families with students in PreK – 6 will have a CD of all the songs in the show.  Grades 1 – 6 are working to memorize ALL of the songs.  Grades PreK – K are learning Track 1 (Funga Alifia) and Track 7 (Bwana/Rise Sun Arise) and Track 8 (Did you Ever Wonder?)  Of course, they may learn other songs too, if they like!
  • COSTUMES — the only costuming needed is black pants and black shirt.   (No shorts, tank tops or sleeveless tops)  These do not have to be new — consider borrowing or shopping at a thrift store. Grades 1 – 6 are working with Ms. J. to design and create their animal head-pieces — with amazing results! Grades PreK – K will begin work in several weeks in creating their own jungle animal head-pieces, using simpler materials and techniques.
  • LINES TO MEMORIZE — Students in Grades 3 – 6 ALL have lines to MEMORIZE and PRACTICE.  Ms. J and Ms. Naomi are working with students to emphasize clear enunciation, good voice projection, and expression.  You can help by having children speak their lines to you and by reinforcing public speaking skills.

And finally — Make sure you have marked the date on your Calendar!  Plan to bring family and friends!  It will be an evening to celebrate your children’s talents and creative spirits, as well as the end to a great school year with Enrichment Classes!
