Parent Orientation Review

Date: September 14, 2015 Author: Crystal Categories: Information, Library 0

HACIL had a parent orientation on Sept. 8 and 10. Here is a recap and a few additional things for your information.

First, thank you to all that attended. HACIL is always striving to keep families as informed as possible but with our remote structure, it is not always easy to get everyone on the same page. Please let us know if you have any questions and I would be happy to elaborate on any of these topics.

1. Introductions of HACIL Staff (Specifically office staff): Ms. Carol in the main office, Ms. Debbie in the Library, Ms. Karen with Curriculum, Mr. D with Testing and Family Quarterly Updates, Mr. Johanson with Technology. If you have any questions regarding any of these people or the place they hold with HACIL, please do not hesitate to contact us. We LOVE hearing from you.

2. HACIL Website and communication: hacil.org is the hub of our communication at HACIL. Please remember to visit and subscribe to the HACIL “information” blog and any others that pertain to your family.

3. HACIL Facility and trafic flow: Pick-up and Drop-off will be through the east side door. All families have been doing a WONDERFUL job acclimating to this new process. Again, if you have any questions or a specific situation you are concerned about, please let us know.

4. Parents are welcome in facility while still respecting student spaces and learning: Families are always welcome to be in the HACIL facility. Please check in at the Office when you arrive so we can assist you with your students and families. We do ask that parents, guests, and younger siblings be in the Library area and not wandering around the facility for student and family safety. There are a lot of people in our facility a any given time, please help us be safe and respected.

5. Moving Forward – high school grading: We took this into a separate meeting for those that requested specific instruction in this area. If you would like to make an appointment to cover Grading on a personal level, please do so before the first quarter meetings. There is very specific information that families with high school students must be collecting and I would hate to have any student missing this data because I have not had a chance to meet.

Something I did not get to mention on Tuesday and need to was in regard to time for students to visit the library on enrichment days. HACIL would like to offer students time during their lunch period to visit the library with your permission. We do not want to make things more difficult for families taking care of all the HACIL resources at your home by sending additional resources with students if that is not your desire. But, we do want to encourage students to love and seek out Great BOOKS.. so, we will provide the opportunity in the day for your students to visit the library and check items out if you will provide the permission in the form of a note or email. If you wish to accompany your child during this exploration of the library, the perfect time will be between 11:15 and 12:00. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thank You Everyone,

Miss Crystal
