I haven’t decided which of the next two recipes I will be making with the students this week… they are both great… The chewies are a little thicker and chewier and the spreads can be a little thinner and not quite as chewy. This could be because of the extra brown sugar in the first recipe. So I am sending both recipes.



2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 eggs
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Nuts chopped nuts are optional

Preheat oven to 325°. Cream together brown sugar and butter. Add eggs and mix well. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and vanilla… Add optional nuts if desired. Bake in a 9X 13 pan for 30 minutes. Cool slightly or serve warm.
