Performance Day for The Elephant’s Child is Almost Here!

Tuesday, April 19 and Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 pm

As the day draws close, here are a few updates and reminders for students in grades 3 – 6.

Practice the songs at home! Encourage your child to spend time going over and memorizing the words to the songs so the songs. Preparation and practice make for confident performers!

Narrators and speakers, Practice your lines at home! The students who have “microphone” parts should repeat their lines at home daily. Work on expressive speaking and clear enunciation. Speak slowly and clearly!

  • Tie-Dye Shirts The tie-dying took place on March 29 and 31. Shirts were sent home with students, with instructions for setting the dye. Please send the shirts to school on April 12 and 14 to wear for our rehearsals. If your child was absent on Tie-Dye day or did not bring a shirt to school, you will need to tie-dye at home or purchase a tie-dyed shirt.
  • Headpieces are done! The students have been working on brilliantly colored “masks” that they will wear on their foreheads. There is no need to provide a headband or cap, as previously requested.
  • Pants Students may wear pants of their choice to complete their costume. NO tattered or soiled clothes please! Students will be very active during the show, so dress for comfort and ease of movement.
  • Shoes. Students will wear sneakers or other shoes that will stay securely on their feet. Safety and ease of movement is important. NO sandals, flip-flops, or fancy dress-up shoes on stage.

Please contact Naomi Haugen (nhaugen@hayward.k12.wi.us) if you have questions or concerns!  Thanks for supporting your child’s success in this endeavor!
