I need to apologize to Tuesdays 7-8 grade class for not getting the information out to you and ensure that Thursdays 7-8 as well as 9-12 classes gets this information ASAP. The blog post below was sent to 9-12 grade regarding this week’s classes. In our eagerness to provide opportunities to as many students as possible, there was this miscommunication on who was invited and I do not want that to repeat. Knowledge and respect so often go hand-in-hand and we want to encourage all our students to love and respect our Wisconsin heritage. ~ Crystal Hexum, HACIL Coordinator

In Wisconsin Adventure, we have tried to expose the students to activities, history and places that are unique to our area. With that as our goal, (7-8 grade and) the high school class will be traveling to a La Courte Oreilles Ojibwe burial ground in Hayward this week. We will be meeting with Becky Taylor, a professional Native American dancer and Ojibwe member. Becky lives in Hayward while traveling the state educating others about the Native American culture. She recently performed at the Green Bay Packers half-time show. We are so fortunate to have her teach us about the Ojibwa culture.

The but is picking up 7-8 graders at HACIL over their lunch hour and return by 1:00. The bus is picking 9-12 grade up at HACIL at 2pm and parents should pick up their student at Stove Works by 3:15. The address is 15593 Cty Hwy B in Hayward. If your student is an independent driver, they may drive themselves with parent notification to the HACIL office. If you have after school activities that prevent your student’s participation, please send them with study hall material.

Thank you ~ Christy Davis and John Prickette
